sacrifice

being a parent means making a lot of sacrifices.
everyone knows this.
I'm one of those mom's who usually doesn't stay out later
than 7:30 at night so Genevieve can get to bed on time.
I stay home most days all day long so she won't miss her naps.
I buy her clothes, blankets, organic baby food etc.etc. way before I will ever spend money on myself
romance novels have been replaced with "babywise" and other parenting books
instead of our trendy little apartment in the city
we are now up to our ears in mortgage payments and house projects
a diaper bag instead of purses
sleepless nights instead of exercise
doctor appointments instead of date nights
sweats instead of skinny jeans
the list can go on and on

but what I really miss
and what I am having a very hard time saying a final goodbye to is...
vacations.
I miss camping, Vegas, girl's trips, and road trips.
I'm having a hard time convincing joe that just because you have children doesn't mean you stop having fun.
he hasn't figured that out yet
so until he does I will be here pestering him, dreaming and remembering the days B.C. (before children).

ok ok i may or may not be feeling a little sorry for myself today

When you go on a trip with kids, it feels like you're moving. You have to pack so much stuff for kids - even babies! I hope you can take a vacation soon :)

It sucks growing up. You have those memories of going on cool trips. Kids do grow up eventually. You can make your own fun with kids. It is just a lot more work making sure your creating memories for them.

So true.. it's super hard to justify money on a vacation when there are so many other places money should go-yard, school payments, savings, etc. I miss vacations, and skinny jeans, equally.
