My dearest Genevieve,
Thinking back over the past month brings tears to my eyes, joy to my heart and a smile to my face. I never imagined when I looked at that small pink plus sign the magnitude my life would change for better and worse. I now proudly wear the badges of honer that come with motherhood... spit up on my shoulder, dark circles under my eyes, a chubby tummy, and saggy breasts. No one prepared me for the hardships that would come with motherhood but I was also not prepared for the love and joy I would experience everytime I look into your eyes, snuggle you close to my chest, sing to you in the tub, kiss your soft skin, hold your tiny hands, tickle your chunky belly, swaddle you tight in a blanket, see your smiling face, watch your fascination in the world around you, kiss your wet lips, feel the tickle of your downy hair against my face, listen to your sighs in your sleep, and comfort you when you cry.
Although it has taken me a few weeks to adjust to this new life I now cherish each moment you and I get to share together. I am honored to be your mother and it is a privledge to be the one who gets to take care of you throughout the day. As the first month of your life comes to end I can't help but look toward to the future, your future, our future and our family's future. I can only hope that you and I will share the same friendship, love and bond that my mom and I share. I look forward to the many days we will spend together and I can only pray for strength and guidance to raise such a beautiful and pure spirit. I am so proud of you and the accomplishments you are making even through this short time you have been here. Your spirit is so sweet and brings your dad and I more happiness, strength, stress and love then we ever knew possible. Thank you for choosing us, thank you for coming here, thank you for being my daughter.
All my love,
mom
