3:00 am

Kenzie and I are sitting here in her hospital room and she says that I "should be a good little husband and blog about whats going on". According to Kenzie "All good husbands blog for their wife's while they are in labor". I don't know if that is true but if I've learned one thing over the last 9 months, it's that you don't argue with a pregnant woman. I'm not very good at sleeping when I don't have "home court advantage" so this should be a good way to kill some time.
Kenz has been having contractions on and off since Friday but she hasn't been progressing very fast. We though she was going into labor Sunday night but after being at the hospital for a few hours, they sent us home when Kenzie didn't progress at all.
We tried everything when we where here at the hospital the first time. Kenzie even tried to run. It was hilarious seeing her run down the hall at 9 months pregnant, in a hospital gown, and flip flops.
Fast forward to tonight. Kenzie had an appointment with her doctor at 4:10 p.m. so I left work a little bit early and picked her up for it. The doctor did is little examination of her nether regions and said that Kenzie was dilated to a 1.5. I though Kenzie was going to kill him or at least make him re-examine her :-) She was a little upset to say the least, but while he was mining for gold he stripped her membrane.
While we were waiting to see the doctor Kenzie recived a phone call letting us know that her rocker was done and ready to be picked up. Kenzie was glad to know that that least one thing was showing up early since the rocker was not suppose to be done till November.
After the doctors visit Kenz and I met up with Carmen and Jame (Kenzie's Mom and Dad) and we loaded up the rocker and headed home. The rocker is way too big to fit in Kenzie's little rat racer of a car, so that's why we needed her parents help to get the rocker.
During dinner Kenzie started having contractions again. We didn't want a repeat of Sunday night so Kenzie said she was not going to go to the hospital until Midnight. We popped in the movie "Earth" by Disney (good movie by the way) to pass the time and see how long kenzie's contractions would last. The contractions lasted through the whole movie and then some. It took a bit of convincing but Kenzie was ready to give the hospital another shot by 9:00.
When we arrived at the hospital all Kenzie was worried about was being sent home again. She kept telling me "Joe, you need to be a man and tell them that no mater what they have to admit me tonight." The ladies at the hospital were very nice to us, and the lady that checked us in even remembered our last name. Don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but anyways..... After we got settled in, the nurse checked to see if the doctor had left any tools behind while he was mining for good and said that Kenzie was a 2+. Not too bad considering it took Kenzie 3 days to get to a 1 :-)
Soon after that check they told Kenzie that they were going to admit her to the hospital and that just made her day! They gave her an epidural and now she is sleeping like a little angle. They also broke her water for her.
So here I sit in a dark hospital room with and watch the little hart monitor and wait... Like mother like daughter. Wish me us luck!
